Plum glut

Today we began harvesting the plums. I had a very willing helper in Rex, as plum jam is his absolute favourite.

We missed most of the plums last January as we were away the week they ripened and the parrots cleaned most of them up. There is a serious amount of fruit this year, with some branches dipped to the ground with the weight. We hardly made a dent in the quantities with our bucket-full this afternoon, and already I have picked more than I can fit in my two biggest pots.

I know what i will be busy with over the next week or so – jamming!
