We celebrated Phoenix’s birthday with a pirate party at Redleaf Creek. The pirate ship was moved to a new position, with the ‘plank’ going into the creek. A treasure hunt, the flying fox, a waterfall abseil and suckling pork rolls kept everyone happy! The pirate ship through the spit-roast smoke-haze… Scurvy Sam and Ruthless RexContinue reading “Creek Pirates”

Wild life at the creek
Yesterday we celebrated Rex’s 8th birthday with a laser tag party at the creek. Dog-tag invitations set the theme and excitement for the kids, who were not disappointed on the day. They teamed up with 3 separate ‘fort’ areas, and between hunting each other, swinging on the tyre and swimming, all were grubby and exhaustedContinue reading “Wild life at the creek”
Shearing time at Redleaf Farm
There were some happy ewes at shearing time this week – some are carrying a huge amount of wool! Our lambs are growing well. There should be lots ready around the end of November, email katrina@redleaf-farm.com if you would like to put your name on the list for lamb when it’s ready.
Big red shiny boys toys
I have a very happy husband. The kids are pretty excited too… pictures say it all really!
The cycle of life…
Our gentle sow Nutmeg had a lovely litter of saddlebacks. She was pregnant to a boar other than our Sam-the-Ham, so we will keep one of the gilts and also a boar to provide a breeding pair for a friend. We have had a lot of lambs in the last fewContinue reading “Red Leaves at Redleaf”
Celebration Sunday and farm stall
A big thanks to Biota for cooking the most amazing suckling pork spit-roast! The last Sunday of the month is now locked in the calendar – what a fantastic feast we had – featuring of course, our delicious pork. Entrees of olives, croquettes, salad and crispy school prawns whet our appetite for the main ofContinue reading “Celebration Sunday and farm stall”
Slippery pigs
Isn’t it meant to be one of those classic amusing farm challenges – to catch a greasy pig? With all this rain it was muddy on Monday as a clique of chefs arrived at Redleaf Farm to catch piglets. It was pretty funny watching! Sam led the catching team in the pen, and then passedContinue reading “Slippery pigs”
Eating like pigs…
The parrots have discovered the ripe plums, and the pigs are loving cleaning up any fallen fruit. The great news is there are no half eaten or rotten plums – bad news is that I probably wont get many more for myself this season! Between mothers milk, the clover-filled pasture, ‘muesli’ of mixed grains, cornContinue reading “Eating like pigs…”
Evening glow…
Many evenings at Redleaf are enjoyed with a glass of wine looking over the paddocks – watching the sun slip over the horizon. The last rays of the day are always magical, turning all to glowing gold.
